Born and raised in San Jose, California, all of Taryn's creative endeavors are produced for the betterment of humanity and to ease its unique relationship with itself. 

 

She received a Master of Arts degree in Social Documentation from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Women’s Studies from Spelman College. 

 

Much of the body of Taryn's creative work highlights oral history narratives, speaking to the strength of the human spirit. Conceptually based artwork generated with a critical analysis, Taryn's research and visual creations are centered around the concept of intersectionality (the idea that individual and social aspects are necessarily intertwined).

In 2010, Taryn became the founder and director of Esoteric Lore, an eight-year-old, socially conscious, multi-media art collective and traveling exhibit, originating in Atlanta, Georgia. Over the last decade, Taryn has guest lectured at several universities around the nation. A wide range of teaching experiences, Taryn has also taught TK-8 and college level curriculum.

A flautist of 21 years, Taryn has played in various genres of music and bands. Improvisational flute playing is her speciality.
